The West Virginia State Personnel Board is comprised of six members. The Cabinet Secretary for the Department of Administration serves as an ex-officio, non-voting member and Board Chair. The remaining five members are appointed by the Governor (with advice and consent of the State Senate) for four-year terms. Members serve until the appointment of their successor. Not more than four of the five appointed members can be from the same political party.
Board activities include, but are not limited to:
Interpreting the application of this article to any public body or entity;
Authorizing and conducting any studies, inquiries, investigations, or hearings in the operation of this article that are deemed necessary.
Examples of items submitted for Board approval include policies and interpretive bulletins, amendments and updates to the Administrative Rule, requests for reductions-in-force, requests for approvals of secondary employment, class specifications and pay plan issues as well as similar matters for county health departments.
Meetings are held monthly on the third Thursday at 1:00 P.M. in Building 6, Room 416 at the State Capitol Complex. The minutes from the previous month are approved for distribution at the start of each meeting. Approved minutes can be accessed at the links below.
